Deprecation Notice: PhotonSync (Q3 2025)
We’re notifying you of the upcoming deprecation of the PhotonSync feature, expected in mid to late Q3 2025 (exact date to be confirmed). After this date, PhotonSync will no longer be supported in any future runtime or container releases.
What is PhotonSync?
PhotonSync enabled offline data transfer between devices via a sequence of flashing QR codes. You can refer to the documentation here (note: this documentation will also be deprecated).
Am I using PhotonSync?
To our knowledge, PhotonSync was never widely adopted, aside from limited pilots and proof-of-concept projects. However, if you find the keyword PhotonSync in your app’s JavaScript or TypeScript code, you are likely using this feature.
What should I do?
If you’re not using PhotonSync: No action is needed.
If you are using PhotonSync: Please contact us as soon as possible so we can help you plan a path forward.
Why are we deprecating PhotonSync?
PhotonSync was built on a now-obsolete internal framework. While the concept of QR-based offline transmission is compelling, interest and adoption were limited.
We’re streamlining our platform by removing underused legacy features.
